Star Wars Zero Company Witness Protection Choices & Rewards

Compare Star Wars Zero Company Witness Protection choices: Intel, Credits, Influence, Luco and Trick Bond reactions, and the best reward for each goal.

Field guide ·

There is no single best Witness Protection choice in Star Wars Zero Company. Pick Threaten them for intel if you want +25 Intelligence or the strongest positive reaction from Luco, pick Help them contact the Republic if you want +5 Influence or the strongest positive reaction from Trick, and pick Sell them out to the Trade Federation if you only want the largest immediate Credit payout at +1,000 Credits.

Witness Protection is a choice event where the rewards and Bond reactions pull in different directions. The best answer therefore depends on whether your current campaign needs Intelligence, Influence, Credits, or a specific relationship outcome more than the others.

Threaten them for credits+500 CreditsNo equivalent +20 named swing verifiedSmaller Credit payout
Sell them out to the Trade Federation+1,000 CreditsMultiple roster reactionsMaximum Credits

The two Credit options look similar at first glance, but they are not equal if your only goal is money. Selling the defector out provides the larger verified payout, while threatening them for credits gives only half as much.

Best Witness Protection choice for Intelligence

Choose Threaten them for intel. If they won't play ball, we'll hand them back to the Separatists.

This option gives +25 Intelligence, making it the strongest choice when you need more Intel for Operations or other strategy-layer spending. It also produces a strong positive reaction from Luco Bronc and a strong negative reaction from Trick.

The named reactions recorded for this option are especially polarized. Luco strongly supports it, while Trick strongly opposes it. Jae Mordant and Kabb Uppercut are among the named Operators who support it rather than opposing it.

Choose this route when Intel is currently more valuable to your campaign than Influence or Credits, or when strengthening Luco's relationship matters more than protecting Trick's reaction.

Best Witness Protection choice for Influence

Choose Help them contact the Republic. Bennic can pass their broadcast along to Republic Intelligence.

This route gives +5 Influence. It is also the best Witness Protection choice if you specifically want the strongest positive named reaction from Trick, who strongly supports helping the defector reach the Republic.

The tradeoff is that Luco strongly opposes this choice. Tel-Rea supports the Republic-oriented answer, while Kabb is listed among the Operators who oppose it.

If you are trying to keep Trick aligned with Hawks or your current strategic plan needs Influence more than Intel, this is the clearest pick.

Best Witness Protection choice for Credits

If Credits are the only thing you care about, choose Sell them out to the Trade Federation. The Viceroy will pay well for the defector's location.

That option gives +1,000 Credits, compared with +500 Credits for threatening the defector into paying for silence. There is no verified extra payout attached to the smaller Credit option that closes that 500-Credit gap.

The two money choices do differ in roster reactions, so a campaign focused on Bonds may still prefer the lower payout. Selling the defector out is strongly opposed by Tel-Rea and Trick, while several other Operators support or strongly support the decision.

If you are choosing purely on immediate economy, however, the +1,000 Credit option is the stronger result.

Luco and Trick reactions

Witness Protection is especially useful as a relationship decision because Luco and Trick pull in opposite directions on the first two choices.

OperatorThreaten for IntelContact Republic
Luco Bronc+20-20
Trick-20+20

That creates a simple relationship rule:

  • Want Luco? Choose the Intel route.
  • Want Trick? Choose the Republic route.

The difference matters because dilemmas can affect Bonds not only between Hawks and the Operators who agree with the choice, but also between characters who land on opposite sides of the decision.

What the other Operators think

The wider roster also reacts differently to each answer.

For the Intel option, Luco strongly supports it, while Jae and Kabb support it. Tel-Rea is against the choice and Trick strongly opposes it.

For the Republic option, Trick strongly supports it and Tel-Rea supports it. Kabb is against it, while Luco strongly opposes it.

For Threaten them for credits, Kabb strongly supports the decision, with Cly and Luco among those who support it. Trick and Tel-Rea are on the negative side of the choice.

For Sell them out to the Trade Federation, Luco is among the strongest supporters, while Tel-Rea and Trick strongly oppose the outcome.

Custom recruits can react according to their temperament rather than the fixed reactions of authored Operators, so the exact relationship impact on a custom-heavy roster may differ from a party built mostly around named companions.

Does Witness Protection change the story later?

No verified follow-up mission or persistent story branch is currently attached to the known Witness Protection choices in the available game-data references.

The confirmed differences are the immediate resource reward and the Bond reactions generated by the dilemma. That means you do not need to choose one option because of an unverified rumor about a later mission or secret ending.

If future patches reveal a delayed consequence, this guide should be updated. As of September 11, 2026, there is no verified later mission unlock tied to these four options in the sources checked for this page.

Which option should you pick?

Use this quick rule:

  • Pick A — Threaten for Intel if you need Intelligence or want Luco's strongest positive reaction.
  • Pick B — Contact the Republic if you need Influence or want Trick's strongest positive reaction.
  • Pick C — Threaten for Credits only if you prefer its roster reactions over the larger payout from Option D.
  • Pick D — Sell them out if you want the highest immediate Credit reward.

For most campaigns, Option A and Option B are strategically more interesting than the Credit choices because Intel and Influence can be harder to replace at the exact moment you need them, while the first two choices also give you a very clear way to steer Luco or Trick Bonds.

There is still no universal answer. A campaign that is short on Credits should not ignore +1,000 just because another resource is theoretically rarer, and a player protecting a specific Bond may reasonably accept a smaller economic reward.
